This is the main anchor post that all the posts will be measured by so they will be set straight as possible. Mess this step up and you have a crooked handling facility that will haunt you every time you want to work bison.
Wow. Doesn't look like much yet but all posts will be set with limestone fill and when it dries it will be like cement. These posts will have to hold up the guard rail we will use to secure the bison when we work them. They have to be stout.
This is the spot where we will build the working facility. Unfortunately, the land was low so we had to shave down the hill adjacent to the west of it to help build it up. It won't be perfect but it will surely help with drainage with the spring and fall rains.
Never thought in a million years we would every be raising bison. It has truly been one of the funnest times of our lives. Raising bison has introduced us to other bison ranchers who have become some of our best friends that we would not have met otherwise. ~Krista Pohl
