It all started when with an anniversary trip to Jackson Hole,Wyoming which is home to Yellowstone National Park. Jim and I were raised on farms and have an intense love and respect for nature and always wanted to go "out west" to see the animals roam in their natural habitat. Out west we went.
On our trip we saw moose, elk and mountain goat.
But what impressed us the most, were the bison and the majestic presence about them. We had to pull off the road on our first day in the park to allow three bachelor bison bulls to amble down the center of the road.
As they passed the vehicle, you could hear your heart pounding as you watched their powerful bodies carry them forward. We were hooked!
We talked about them non stop. Within two weeks of returning home, we bought a herd of three!
A few years later, our herd was bigger than our land could comfortably hold. We decided to move just three miles away to more acreage and the property just happen to have a log home on it like the ones we saw in Jackson Hole.
It has been eight exciting years since that life changing trip. We are grateful everyday that we have our own bit of "the west" in our backyard.
Sampson, our 2,500 hundred pound Plains bison bull may greet you when you enter the drive way.
